The Renewable Energy India Expo 2025 is expected to attract over ₹1,800 crore in new investment commitments for India’s bioenergy sector, according to the Indian Biogas Association (IBA). The three-day event, set to take place from October 30 to November 1, 2025, at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida, will emphasize biogas as a pivotal driver of India’s green growth. The sector is gaining momentum driven by the government’s expansion of the SATAT scheme, the establishment of new compressed biogas (CBG) plants, and the increasing recognition of biogas as a key feedstock for future fuels.

The Bio-Energy Pavilion, organized by the IBA, will feature 30% more exhibitors than 2024 and showcase innovations in waste-to-energy technologies, CBG, and co-digestion models. The pavilion will also draw significant participation from global technology leaders, startups, and policymakers. IBA President AR Shukla noted that India is no longer viewing biogas as just a rural solution, but as a key component of the clean energy economy, helping reduce carbon emissions, supporting farmers, and driving the green economy.

The expo is expected to attract over 60,000 participants from around the world, with representation from sectors such as bioenergy, solar, wind, hydrogen, e-mobility, and energy storage. IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia emphasized the economic significance of biogas, stating that it represents economic security and plays a crucial role in the development-led energy transition. With India’s potential to produce over 62 million tons of CBG annually, the country can significantly reduce fuel imports, create thousands of rural and urban jobs, and establish a truly circular economy.

The IBA highlighted that biogas will serve a dual role in India’s energy future: reducing fossil fuel imports through large-scale CBG adoption and contributing to India’s Net Zero Mission by making bioenergy production cleaner and more affordable. The REI Expo has become India’s most influential renewable energy platform, and for the IBA, REI 2025 marks a pivotal moment in demonstrating India’s bioenergy advancements and positioning biogas as a vital solution for climate, energy, and economic challenges. In 2024, the expo saw investment commitments worth ₹1,850 crore and the signing of several MoUs, and this year’s event is expected to build on that success.
