Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM) has launched its new 10 ft and 20 ft containerized Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in India. The company’s first 10 ft unit has been delivered to Greenlit, a Mumbai-based company, through a collaboration with GMMCO, a CK Birla Group firm. JEM plans to expand these sustainable energy solutions nationwide with GMMCO’s help. The BESS units are designed and manufactured entirely in-house by JEM, making them one of the few companies in India with fully integrated battery storage production.
The air-cooled, modular units offer scalable capacities ranging from 241 kWh to 3 MWh and are built in JEM’s facilities in Indore and Bangalore. They are designed to be transport-friendly, resilient in challenging environments, and suitable for various clean energy uses such as replacing diesel generators, storing solar power, and providing backup power for commercial and industrial customers. JEM is gearing up to enter international markets, with its first 20 ft unit slated for export to Africa in October.
The company plans to ramp up production at its Indore plant from 1 GWh annually to 5 GWh over the next three years to meet increasing demand in the commercial, industrial, and utility sectors. JEM’s battery systems play a crucial role in India’s energy transition, targeting diesel generator replacements and solar energy storage. These solutions provide flexible energy management and reliable backup power, helping industries reduce carbon emissions and support a stable, sustainable energy grid.
The launch of JEM’s modular containerized BESS contributes to India’s Net Zero 2070 goals by enabling greater renewable integration, lowering industrial carbon footprints, and building a resilient energy infrastructure. Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Group, said that the introduction of these systems marks a milestone in their battery division, demonstrating their strong capabilities in engineering and production.
JEM’s new containerized battery systems position the company to drive widespread adoption of dependable and scalable energy storage across India. The company is committed to promoting eco-friendly transport and power solutions, leveraging Jupiter Wagons’ long-standing expertise in railways and infrastructure. With its comprehensive mobility products and partnerships with leading global firms, JEM is well-positioned to lead India’s electric mobility and clean energy revolution.
