The NYU Tandon School of Engineering, in partnership with Equinor, the National Offshore Wind R&D Consortium (NOWRDC), and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), has announced the selection of six companies to participate in the 2025 Offshore Wind Innovation Hub Accelerator Cohort. These companies were chosen from a pool of 53 applicants based on the novelty and potential of their solutions to advance offshore wind’s potential in New York.
The selected companies include:
1. Anemo Robotics (Denmark) – autonomous underwater monitoring solution for marine biodiversity assessment
2. Kalypso Offshore Energy (USA) – modular subsea cable repair and maintenance kit
3. MESPAC (Italy) – intelligence platform for metocean data powered by satellites and AI
4. Orpheus Ocean (USA) – lightweight and modular Autonomous Underwater Vehicle for seafloor data collection
5. Reblade (Denmark) – drone-based robotics tools for automatically repairing edge erosion of wind turbine blades
6. Werover (UK) – continuous, real-time monitoring of wind turbine blades using acoustic sensors and AI-powered analytics
These companies will participate in a six-month mentoring and business development program residency, designed to prepare them for strategic partnerships with major offshore wind developers, suppliers, and the wider offshore wind value chain. The program aims to enable innovators to overcome barriers to adoption and continue to successfully commercialize their solutions in New York and beyond.
The Offshore Wind Innovation Hub, based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, is a catalyst for growth, strengthening supply chains, sparking innovation, and driving economic investment in New York. The hub is led by Equinor in collaboration with the Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon and is supported by the NYCEDC. The hub’s mission is to enable smaller companies to provide their technology to the offshore wind industry, and to facilitate demonstration opportunities, safety awareness, knowledge transfer, innovation, and job creation.
The 2025 Accelerator cohort will build on the foundation of the past two years of program success, with previous cohort companies making significant strides in business and product development, fundraising, hiring, and piloting. The program has established itself as a model for public-private partnerships, driving meaningful growth and harnessing world-class entrepreneurial talent to solve the most pressing challenges in New York City’s offshore wind and other green economy industries.
The Offshore Wind Innovation Hub is committed to diversity and equity, advancing inclusive supply chain and business development, and accelerating the green economy in New York. The hub’s partners, including Equinor, NOWRDC, and NYCEDC, are dedicated to supporting the growth of the offshore wind industry and driving economic investment in New York. The hub’s annual Wind-Win Startup Showdown event will be held on September 4, 2025, in New York City, where the selected companies will be showcased, and attendees can learn more about their innovations.
