A devastating incident occurred on Sunday evening in Thane, Maharashtra, when the battery of an electric two-wheeler exploded, causing a fire and injuring three women. The incident took place at a house in Almas Colony, Kausa area, around 5:15 pm, while the battery was being charged. The explosion triggered a fire, resulting in burns to the three women, who were all from the same household.

According to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, the three women, identified as Nusrat Syed (45), Hafza Syed (24), and Afza Syed (18), suffered injuries in the incident. Nusrat sustained severe burns, with over 30% of her body affected, and was subsequently shifted to Wadia Hospital in Mumbai for specialized treatment.

The other two women, Hafza and Afza, were also taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, the fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters who rushed to the scene after being alerted. The prompt response of the fire department prevented the situation from escalating further.

The incident highlights the potential risks associated with electric vehicles, particularly when it comes to battery charging and maintenance. It is essential for owners of electric two-wheelers to follow proper safety guidelines and precautions to avoid such accidents.
