The next-generation Kia Seltos has been partially revealed in a documentary series by Hyundai, giving a glimpse into the company’s R&D center. The SUV, which is expected to debut later this year, has been caught testing multiple times in Korea, and the leaked footage shows a silver-colored SUV with identical features to the recently spied prototypes, including the headlamp design, ORVMs placement, and roof shape. The new Seltos is expected to come with a hybrid powertrain, which has been undergoing testing in foreign markets.

The hybrid version of the Seltos, internally called the SP3, is expected to be revealed in 2026, with mass production commencing in August 2026 at the Kia Autoland Gwangju Factory. The hybrid powertrain is expected to be a 141hp, 1.6-litre system, similar to the one used in the Hyundai Kona Hybrid and Kia Niro. Additionally, Kia is developing a dedicated electronic all-time four-wheel (E-AWD) system for the Seltos Hybrid, which will target European markets.

In India, the Kia hybrid system is expected to be based on a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine, with a small battery pack and an electric motor. This system is likely to be offered on future Kia cars, including a new 7-seater SUV currently under development. Kia believes that hybrids will account for 25 percent of its sales in India by 2030, and the company plans to introduce multiple hybrid cars in the country to achieve this goal.

The next-gen Seltos will be based on a modified version of the existing platform, which will be compatible with different engine options, including petrol, diesel, petrol-hybrid, and electric. The SUV is expected to come with an all-new premium and feature-loaded interior, inspired by new Kia models such as the Syros, Carnival, and EV9. The cabin is likely to feature a bigger connected screen, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument console, a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, and a 5-inch climate control display. The new Seltos will also come with other engine choices, including the existing 1.5L turbo petrol and diesel options. Overall, the next-gen Seltos is expected to be a significant upgrade over the current model, with a focus on hybrid technology and premium features.
