Mahindra will introduce the XUV 3XO EV in mid-2025, followed by the hybrid version in 2026. The XUV 3XO EV is expected to come with a 35kWh battery pack and will feature EV-specific changes. The hybrid version, codenamed S226, will be equipped with a 1.2L turbo petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid setup.

Hyundai has confirmed the launch of three mass-market electric cars, including the Venue EV, which is expected to arrive in the next couple of years. Kia will launch the Syros EV in early 2026, which will be produced at its Anantapur manufacturing facility. The Syros EV will compete with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and is expected to offer a range of around 450km.

Renault will enter the mass-market EV segment with the Kiger EV and Triber EV by 2027. The Kiger EV will be based on a new dedicated EV platform and is expected to be priced under Rs 15 lakh. Maruti Suzuki is also developing a strong hybrid powertrain for its mass-market offerings, including the Brezza, which is expected to launch in 2029. The Brezza hybrid will feature a strong hybrid system with the Z-Series petrol engine, delivering a mileage of over 35kmpl.

These upcoming hybrid and electric compact SUVs are expected to revolutionize the Indian automotive market, offering customers a range of eco-friendly options. With the government’s push for electric vehicles, these launches are timely and will help reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels. The competition in the compact SUV segment is expected to intensify with the introduction of these new models, providing customers with a wider range of choices and driving growth in the Indian automotive market.
