The recently concluded Global Technology Summit (GTS) 2025, organized by Carnegie India in Delhi, has set a new standard for sustainable event planning and management. The event showcased a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and demonstrated that innovation and sustainability can go hand-in-hand.

The summit, which partnered with The GenC, implemented a phase-wise ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) action model to minimize its environmental impact. This involved using reusable food and beverage cutlery, repurposed wood in event fabrication, and circular waste management systems to minimize waste and maximize recycling.

To engage delegates, the event tracked its carbon footprint in real-time and hosted interactive discussions and activities to raise awareness and encourage accountability. The organizers aimed to create a model for sustainable event planning in India and succeeded in reducing the event’s environmental footprint.

The GTS 2025 brought together industry experts, policymakers, academics, and international speakers to discuss various topics, including geopolitics of technology, artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, India’s tech evolution, and cybersecurity. With 25 sessions and over 150 speakers, the event provided a platform for worldwide discussions and knowledge sharing.

The summit’s success demonstrates the growing importance of sustainability in India’s events scene, driving the need for environmentally responsible planning and management for future summits.
