The Greater Noida Authority has taken a significant step towards making the city cleaner by leasing 11.5 acres of land to Reliance Bio Energy for setting up a bio-CNG plant. The plant, which was inaugurated on Friday, will have a daily wet waste processing capacity of 300 tonnes. The lease period is 25 years, and Reliance Bio Energy will pay the Authority a royalty of Rs 225 per ton of waste processed.

The bio-CNG plant will convert wet waste into bio-CNG fuel, which can be used as an automotive fuel alternative. The Authority will not incur any expenses for processing the waste, and the plant is expected to be completed within a year and a half. According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, NG Ravi Kumar, the bio-CNG plant will help resolve the issue of wet waste disposal in Greater Noida while also generating fuel and revenue for the Authority.

The plant will not only reduce the city’s waste disposal problem but also provide a sustainable alternative to traditional fuels. The Authority has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to Reliance Bio Energy, which was awarded the project after a successful bidding process. The RFP was issued with the goal of processing 300 tonnes of wet waste daily, and the lease period is 25 years.

The Greater Noida Authority is expected to generate revenue from the plant through the royalty paid by Reliance Bio Energy for each ton of waste processed. The Authority will use this revenue to fund future projects and initiatives aimed at making the city cleaner and more sustainable. With the completion of the bio-CNG plant, Greater Noida is taking a significant step towards reducing its environmental impact and improving its overall quality of life.
