Kia India is working on a new electric vehicle (EV) derivative of the Carens, which has been spotted in recent spy shots. In addition, the company is planning to introduce a facelift of the Carens with a new nameplate. The Carens EV, which has been spotted at an EV charging station, is heavily camouflaged, revealing a charging port on its fascia, new dual-tone alloy wheels, and an ADAS sensor on its lower fascia. The test mule also appears to have an all-new front design, a reworked posterior, and a familiar side profile.
The Carens EV is expected to receive a range of updates, including a revised centre console, new upholstery, a fresh steering wheel, and a gear lever. While Kia has remained silent on the technical specifications of the upcoming model, it is likely to source its powertrain from the recently launched Creta EV. This means that the Carens EV could be powered by a single electric motor paired with a battery pack, providing a range of up to 473km on a full charge.
The facelifted Carens with a new nameplate is also expected to make its debut in the near future. The company has been tight-lipped about the details of the new model, but sources suggest that it will receive a range of updates, including design and feature modifications. The updated Carens is likely to be a significant improvement over its predecessor, offering a more refined driving experience and additional features. As the EV market continues to grow, Kia’s plans for the Carens EV and the facelifted Carens with a new nameplate could be a significant step forward for the company.
