The Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd (GPCL) has reported its 2023-24 financial results, showcasing the state’s significant progress in the solar energy sector. According to the corporation’s report, four operational solar parks in Gujarat are managed and implemented by GPCL, which has emerged as the nodal agency for these projects.

The report highlights that the Gujarat Solar Park in Charanka, Banaskantha, is home to 36 developers with a combined solar power capacity of 730MW. The Dholera Ultra Mega Solar Park, which is currently undergoing expansion, has already commissioned 300MW of the approved 1,000MW project. The Raghanesda Ultra Mega Solar Park in Vav taluka, Banaskantha, is fully operational, with a capacity of 700MW. According to GPCL, the necessary infrastructure, water supply, and electrification work at these sites have been completed.

GPCL’s financial report also reveals that the corporation has achieved an income of ₹627.34 crore in 2023-24, an increase from ₹571.69 crore in 2022-23. The corporation has also recorded a profit of ₹163.70 crore, up from ₹155.67 crore in the previous year.

The state’s focus on solar energy is part of its broader efforts to promote renewable energy and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. Gujarat’s initiatives in the solar energy sector are expected to not only reduce carbon emissions but also provide clean and sustainable energy to the state’s residents and industries.
