A new report by the Climate Group’s EV100 network reveals that companies are making significant progress towards operating zero-emission fleets by 2030, despite challenging economic, geopolitical, and political conditions. The report, titled “Turning Commitment into Action: How Ambitious Fleets are Driving the Global EV Transition,” shows that nearly 70% of EV100 members were able to sustain progress towards a 100% electric vehicle (EV) goal by 2030.
The report highlights several key milestones, including the addition of over 127,000 EVs to company fleets, bringing the total number of EVs deployed by the network to over 700,000 across 76 markets. Additionally, 20 EV100 members have achieved 50% or higher conversion across their committed fleets, and over 4,000 locations worldwide now have charging access for staff and customers.
The report also features examples of companies’ innovative approaches to achieving their EV goals, such as Prologis’ creation of a self-sufficient microgrid to power North America’s largest heavy-duty electric vehicle charging hub. Other companies, such as Aviva, IKEA, and Mitie, are also making significant progress in their transition to electric fleets.
However, the report emphasizes that policymakers worldwide must take urgent action to create the conditions needed to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. This includes expanding charging and grid infrastructure, establishing clear legislative frameworks, and launching public campaigns to build widespread support and understanding.
The news comes as the Fleet Electrification Forum, a new event launched by Transport + Energy, is set to take place this summer, with the Climate Group as a supporter. The event aims to bring together industry leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities of fleet electrification.
