A new British startup, Longbow Motors, is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) market with its pair of “Featherweight Electric Vehicles,” the Speedster and Roadster. Designed to be lightweight and powerful, these cars are expected to achieve impressive performance while minimizing environmental impact. The brand’s motto, “Celeritas Levitas,” translates to “the speed of lightness,” reflecting its focus on speed and agility.

The Speedster and Roadster are expected to feature a 240-kw electric motor and over 2,000 nickel-cadmium battery cells, providing a range of 275 miles and 256 miles, respectively. With a curb weight of approximately 2,000 pounds, these vehicles are set to outperform many others in their class. Despite their relatively modest outputs, they promise a 0-62 mph time of around 3.5 seconds, placing them firmly in supercar territory.

Longbow Motors has chosen to source major components from established Chinese suppliers to keep costs and development times low. The company plans to limited production runs of 1,500 units for both models, with a prototype of the Speedster expected by mid-year and production models set to launch in 2026. Prices are expected to be more affordable than those of traditional supercars, with the Speedster starting at $109,900 and the Roadster at $84,040.

The brand is also offering limited-edition models, including the Luminary 1st Edition of the Speedster and Autograph Edition of the Roadster, with only a few dozen units available worldwide. These exclusive models are expected to come with a premium price tag. Although specific details on standard and optional equipment, U.S.-certified specs, and availability in the United States have not been released, Longbow Motors is poised to make a significant impact in the EV market with its innovative, lightweight, and powerful vehicles.
