The Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL) has reported significant progress in the state’s solar park projects. According to the corporation’s report for 2023-2024, GPCL generated an income of Rs 627.34 crore, a 9.5% increase from the previous year, and recorded a profit of Rs 163.70 crore, a 5.1% increase.
The report highlighted that there are currently four solar parks operational in the state, with GPCL serving as the nodal agency to manage and implement the projects. The Gujarat Solar Park at Charanka in Banaskantha district has 36 developers that have installed an aggregate of 730MW solar power capacity. The Dholera Ultra Mega Solar Park has also seen significant progress, with 300MW of solar power projects commissioned, despite initial plans to set up a 1,000MW project.
The Raghanesda Ultra Mega Solar Park in Vav taluka of Banaskantha district is fully operational, generating 700MW of solar power. GPCL has completed all infrastructure, water supply, and electrification work at the project site, ensuring a smooth operation.
The corporation’s success is a testament to its effective management and implementation of energy-related projects.
