Trina Solar, a leading solar panel manufacturer, has announced the development of the world’s first industrial-standard solar PV module with a maximum power output of over 800W. The 3.1m2 module, produced with 210mm x 105mm perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells, has achieved a peak power output of 808W, certified by TÜV SÜD. This milestone marks a significant breakthrough in PV technology and reinforces Trina’s leadership in innovation.
Traditional silicon-based solar cell efficiency is approaching its theoretical limit, while perovskite tandem technology has the potential to exceed existing limitations, with theoretical efficiencies reaching up to 43%. As a transformative solution for next-generation solar energy, perovskite/silicon tandem technology is poised to become the new industry standard, signaling an historic shift from silicon-based to tandem solar cells and ushering in a new era of sustainable development.
Trina Solar has been a pioneer in perovskite tandem cell technology, collaborating with universities and leading national research projects. The company has filed 331 patents related to tandem technology, significantly improving conversion efficiencies through advances in perovskite bulk doping, interface engineering, and composite layer design. This achievement is a testament to Trina’s commitment to innovation and its role in driving the transition to a more sustainable future.
