TrinaSolar has made a groundbreaking announcement, developing the world’s first industrial-standard solar photovoltaic (PV) module delivering over 800W of maximum power. The 3.1m2 module, produced with 210mmx105mm perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells, has achieved a peak power output of 808W, certified by TÜV SÜD. This accomplishment is a significant step towards the industrialization of tandem modules and reinforces TrinaSolar’s leadership in PV innovation.

The development of high-efficiency tandem cells has attracted increasing attention as conventional silicon-based solar cell efficiency approaches its theoretical limit. Perovskite tandem technology has the potential to exceed these limitations, with theoretical efficiencies reaching up to 43%. TrinaSolar’s investment in research and development has led to the filing of 331 patents related to tandem technology, significantly improving conversion efficiency through advances in perovskite bulk doping, interface engineering, and composite layer design.

TrinaSolar’s mission is to promote “Solar Energy for All” and drive energy transition through technological innovation. This breakthrough achievement marks a new era of sustainable development, shifting the industry’s focus from silicon-based to tandem solar cells. The company’s commitment to its mission will continue to contribute to a more sustainable and net-zero future. With this announcement, TrinaSolar cements its position as a pioneer in perovskite tandem cell technology, paving the way for continued innovation and a cleaner, more sustainable energy landscape.
