Rajasthan is set to launch a new portal for electric vehicle (EV) owners to apply for subsidies starting next month. The portal, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), is currently undergoing its final tests and is expected to be operational soon. The portal will feature vehicle listings from manufacturers and dealers, allowing owners to submit their subsidy applications.

The transport department in Rajasthan has established a Rs 200 crore e-vehicle promotion fund under the Electric Vehicle policy, which provides state GST reimbursement and a one-time grant to buyers of electric vehicles with advanced batteries. To be eligible for the benefits, owners must have purchased and registered their vehicles in the state from September 1, 2022. The program is expected to benefit approximately 1.6 lakh EV buyers.

The incentives for different types of vehicles are as follows: two-wheeler buyers can receive a grant of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 for fixed batteries and Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 for swappable batteries. Three-wheeler owners can get a grant of Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 for fixed batteries and Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 for swappable batteries. Additionally, three-wheeler retrofit kits will receive a 15% grant of the kit cost, including taxes, up to Rs 10,000 per vehicle. Four-wheeler owners can receive a grant of Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000, while four-wheeler retrofit kits will receive a 15% grant of the kit cost, including taxes, up to Rs 15,000 per vehicle.

The portal aims to simplify the process of applying for subsidies, making it more convenient for EV owners to access the benefits. With the launch of the portal, Rajasthan is expected to encourage more people to adopt electric vehicles, contributing to a more environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation system.
