Molgas, a European company specialized in small-scale LNG, has launched a truck-to-ship bio-LNG bunkering service in the Belgian port of Zeebrugge. The service was initiated in January, with multiple deliveries already made, and more scheduled for the coming weeks. The company’s multi-truck-to-ship process enables the simultaneous delivery of 200-300 tons of bio-LNG to a vessel, known as SIMOPS. The port of Zeebrugge is a key hub for vessels fueled by bio-LNG, making it an efficient location for serving marine customers.

This development is part of Molgas’ busy expansion of its LNG bunkering network in Europe. In December 2024, the company completed its first truck-to-ship LNG bunkering operation in the UK, following earlier operations in Italy, Belgium, and France. Additionally, Molgas acquired a 45% stake in Dutch LNG supplier Titan.

The bio-LNG used in this service has a negative carbon intensity score, making it a more environmentally friendly option for the marine industry. This move also supports the growing demand for alternative fuels in the shipping sector, as companies aim to reduce their carbon footprint and comply with increasingly stringent emissions regulations. With its established logistics network, Molgas is well-positioned to provide efficient and reliable bio-LNG bunkering services to marine customers.
