Enercon, a leading wind turbine manufacturer, has secured a contract to deliver and install 13 turbines for a community wind farm project in Germany. The project, which will generate 72MW of renewable energy, marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing partnership with BürgerEnergiepark Druiberg. The partnership, which highlights Enercon’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement, will see the company supply its E-160 EP5 turbines to the first community wind farm in Saxony-Anhalt.
The project, located in the border areas of two merged municipalities, Stadt Osterwieck and EHG Huy, has received strong support from the local authorities and citizens, with over two-thirds of local electricity consumers sourcing their energy directly from the regional wind farm. The implementation of the project will also follow the “Guidelines for Fair Wind Power Planning,” which prioritize local value creation, citizen, and municipal involvement.
Enercon’s regional head, Benjamin Seifert, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the close cooperation with BürgerEnergiepark Druiberg and the high level of local approval and anchoring of the project. This latest contract builds on Enercon’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, following its earlier partnership with Salzgitter and TMGROUP to produce lower-emissions steel towers for wind turbines.
The project serves as a model for responsible and sustainable energy production, setting a positive example for other companies and communities to follow. By prioritizing local partnerships and community engagement, Enercon and BürgerEnergiepark Druiberg demonstrate their commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
