Xpeng, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has announced an array of updates for its 2025 G6 SUV, including an advanced battery system that can charge from 10 to 80% in just 12 minutes. The 5C battery is designed to withstand extreme conditions, including 1,000°C heat and 80 tons of collision force.

The 2025 Xpeng G6 will retain the same starting price as the 2024 model, with a range of 275 miles on the EPA test cycle, making it a strong competitor to the Tesla Model Y. The SUV will be available in three trim levels, with the base model starting at 176,800 yuan (approximately $27,620).

Other upgrades include an advanced ADAS system powered by Xpeng’s 40-core “Turing” chip processor, which promises to deliver the power of three high-performance chips in one. The system, known as “Turing AI,” will eventually support full-scale L4 autonomous driving with enhanced safety features.

The G6 will also feature a 9-inch streaming rearview mirror, updated soft-touch materials, and “cloud-sense” seats with heat, ventilation, and massage functions. Two new colors will be added to the palette, bringing the total to six.

Xpeng announced that it received 5,000 firm orders for the 2025 G6 within seven minutes of its launch on Weibo. The company claims that its focus on technology and innovation will set the standard for the global EV market.

Electrek notes that Chinese EVs, including the Xpeng G6, are consistently pushing the boundaries of range, performance, and technology, making them more appealing to consumers. The article concludes that while the US and other countries have chosen to lag behind, they can still learn from the innovations of countries like China.
