Hyundai has introduced its new IONIQ 9 electric SUV, designed to prioritize efficiency, comfort, and high-tech features. The vehicle is built on the E-GMP platform, which allows for a spacious interior and maximum range. The IONIQ 9 is available in three variants, each powered by a different configuration of electric motors. The Long-Range RWD model boasts a WLTP-estimated range of 620 km (385 miles) and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. The Performance AWD model reaches 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
The vehicle’s aerodynamics have been optimized to improve efficiency, with features such as a 3D-shaped underbody cover, optimized wheels, hidden antennas, and dual-motion active air flaps. This results in a drag coefficient of 0.259 Cd, reducing energy consumption. To ensure a smooth and quiet ride, the IONIQ 9 features advanced suspension technology, including MacPherson multi-link front suspension, multi-link rear setup, and self-leveling dampers. The Chassis Domain Control Unit also enhances handling with features like torque vectoring, lateral wind stability, and AI-powered Auto Terrain Mode.
Inside, the IONIQ 9 prioritizes cabin quietness with features like triple door seals, acoustic glass, sound-absorbing tires, and active noise control. The HVAC system is designed to handle extreme weather conditions, using a heat pump to recycle waste heat and maintain a comfortable interior temperature while minimizing energy consumption. This allows the SUV to travel over 400 km in temperatures as low as -7°C (19.4°F), as certified by the Korean Ministry of Environment. Overall, the IONIQ 9 offers a unique blend of performance, efficiency, and comfort, making it a competitive option in the electric SUV market.
