The Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Som Nath Sachdeva, emphasized the importance of technological innovation in the development of India. He spoke at the valedictory ceremony of a five-day workshop on “EV Saksham: Electric Vehicle Design and Development” organized by the Mechanical Department of UIET, Kurukshetra University. Sachdeva noted that the age of electric vehicles has arrived, with the Indian government’s mission to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030 driving up the demand for EVs. He pointed out that EVs are more sustainable, with only 20 components compared to the 2,000 components in fossil fuel vehicles.

Sachdeva also inspected two EV formula racing cars made by UIET students, which he said would provide students with opportunities to learn the latest technology. He encouraged young students to take consistent steps towards starting their own businesses, saying that they should strive to become job providers rather than job seekers.

During the workshop, students used waste materials to create a Formula EV vehicle, and a team of 32 students worked together to design, assemble, and test a vehicle, with a budget of around Rs 1 lakh. The event was also attended by UIET Director Sunil Dhingra, who spoke about the Society of Automotive Engineers, and Dr. Vishal Ahlawat presented a detailed report on the workshop. The event highlighted the potential of innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of electric vehicles, enabling students to develop skills and create sustainable, eco-friendly solutions for the future.
