Vive Mobility, a Pune-based startup, has unveiled India’s first solar-powered car, called Eva, at the Auto Expo 2023. The Eva is designed as an eco-friendly alternative for urban travel, using solely solar energy and solar panels installed on its roof to charge its batteries. With advanced high-voltage powertrain technology, the car can travel 250 km on a single charge, with a daily average of approximately 3,000 km using solar power. The Eva boasts a super-fast charging feature, accelerating from 0 to 40 km/h in 5 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 70 km/h. At an affordable price of Rs 0.50 per km, the Eva is positioned as a cost-effective option for urban commuters. Co-founder and CEO Nilesh Bajaj stated that the Eva is designed to meet modern consumers’ needs, providing smart connectivity and solar power for enhanced urban mobility. With its lightweight design, seamless smartphone integration, vehicle diagnostics, and over-the-air updates, the Eva is ideal as a second vehicle for families or for short, solo commutes. Vive Mobility plans to showcase the Eva at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
