Cerulant Winds has signed exclusive agreements with Crown Estate Scotland for three floating wind farm projects in the Central North Sea. Bilfinger E&M UK will provide operations and maintenance services for these projects. The three projects will be connected to each other through a high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission system to ensure maximum generation uptime. This setup will also allow for the transmission of renewable energy to other parts of the North Sea through a new high-voltage direct current (HDVC) network. Cerulant Winds aims to create a “North Sea Renewables Grid” that would supply energy to existing oil and gas facilities, enabling them to meet the UK government’s emissions reduction targets. By 2025, these floating wind farms are expected to generate enough electricity to power over 400,000 homes.
