The Assam government is launching a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Solar Energy Transaction Scheme, a revolutionary platform that enables solar energy producers to sell surplus energy directly to other consumers. Under this scheme, registered rooftop solar users can list their excess energy for sale through a digital platform, earning additional income and promoting a decentralized energy distribution model. Buyers can access the platform to purchase energy, with the platform adjusting the traded units in their accounts. Unsold energy will be redirected to the state power distribution company. This initiative aligns with the state’s commitment to clean energy, encouraging more households to adopt rooftop solar systems and promoting economic benefits for solar energy producers. The scheme is expected to launch soon, with officials optimistic about its potential to bridge energy supply gaps and foster a sustainable energy ecosystem. The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited is leading the project, which sets a benchmark for other states to follow in creating a sustainable and inclusive energy ecosystem.
