Helix Energy Solutions, a US-based offshore energy services provider, has confirmed the arrival of its purpose-built DP3 semi-submersible vessel, Helix Q7000, in Namibia’s Port of Walvis Bay. The vessel has stopped in Namibia to prepare for its decommissioning assignment off the coast of Brazil, where it will provide plug and abandonment services to Shell on subsea wells in the Campos Basin. The contract, which runs for 12 months with option extensions, will see the vessel provide services to Shell’s Bijupira and Salema fields. During its 10-day stay in Namibia, the vessel will undergo maintenance and cleaning, including removing marine growth from the pontoons, before continuing its journey to Brazil.
