BP has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a Spanish renewable energy company, Siemens Gamesa, for the supply of wind energy. The PPA will see BP purchase 170 GWh of renewable energy per year from the Spanish company’s onshore wind farms. The agreement is for a period of 15 years, starting from 2023. The energy will be supplied to BP’s operations in Spain and will help reduce the company’s carbon emissions. This deal is part of BP’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and meet its own renewable energy targets. The PPA is also expected to support the growth of the Spanish renewable energy sector, creating new jobs and stimulating local economies. The deal is a significant step towards the country’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
