The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NIScPR) have launched the Centre for Digital Tradition Knowledge (CDTK) 2024 to take traditional knowledge global. The CDTK aims to digitize and preserve traditional knowledge, including folk medicine, agriculture, and crafts, from across the country. The initiative will create a comprehensive digital repository of traditional knowledge, making it accessible to researchers, policymakers, and the general public worldwide.

The CDTK will also facilitate the patenting and commercialization of traditional knowledge, ensuring that the benefits of innovation and entrepreneurship are shared equitably among all stakeholders. The centre will collaborate with universities, research institutions, and industry partners to develop products and services based on traditional knowledge.

The launch of CDTK 2024 is a significant step towards recognizing and valuing traditional knowledge, which is often held by marginalized communities. The initiative will help to preserve cultural heritage and promote sustainable development, while also providing new opportunities for economic growth and social empowerment.
