Diageo India, a spirits company, has launched a regenerative agriculture program with rice farmers in Telangana to reduce carbon emissions and water usage in its supply chain. The program, implemented in partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture, will work with over 220 farmers from 15 villages, covering 500 hectares of land. The goal is to support smallholder farmers, build resilience in the supply chain, and reduce emissions by 50% and water use by 30%. Diageo India’s Chief Supply and Sustainability Officer, Jitendra Mahajan, stated that the company is committed to expanding the impact of its work and leveraging synergies to achieve its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. This initiative is part of Diageo India’s efforts to reduce its environmental footprint and promote sustainable practices in its supply chain.
