Excess government stake in 19 PSUs is now worth ₹2.4 lakh crore

The Union government can unlock nearly ₹2.4 lakh crore if it plans on monetising its excess stake in over 19 state-run companies ranging from IRFC to Life Insurance Corporation, SJVN and many state-run banks.Excess stake implies those companies in which government shareholding is more than 75%. The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has introduced Jeevan Dhara II, a new individual, savings, deferred annuity plan.Under the plan, available for sale from January 22, annuity is guaranteed from inception and as many as 11 annuity options will be available. LIC launches non-participating product Jeevan Dhara-II: Check details here

State-owned Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Friday announced the launch of the non-participating product Jeevan Dhara-II.

According to the exchange filing, the product, which will be available from 22 January 2023, is a non-linked, non-participating, individual savings deferred annuity plan.

In November, LIC had launched a new non-linked, non-participating individual savings whole life insurance product – Jeevan Utsav.

LIC resumes operations at Mauritius branch; stock trades in green

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has resumed operations at its Mauritius branch with effect from January 17, 2024, after the passing of Cyclone Belal. LIC had earlier received income tax litigation from the Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai, for financial claim of ₹1,370.60 crore. The corporation will file an appeal before the Commissioner (Appeals), Mumbai, against the orders.  The LIC stock traded at ₹900.40 on the NSE, up by 0.88 per cent as of 12:35 pm.
