TDP General Secretary and Minister for HRD and IT Nara Lokesh has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with United India Insurance and Pragmatic Insurance Broking Services to provide Rs 5 lakh accidental insurance cover to TDP activists. This move makes TDP the only political party in the country to provide such a cover to its one crore members. The insurance coverage is effective from January 1 to December 31, 2025, with the party paying a premium of Rs 42 crore. This is one of several welfare initiatives taken by Lokesh for TDP activists, which also include setting up a separate legal wing to handle false cases filed against party workers, a cell to provide immediate assistance to those who meet with accidents, and setting up residential schools for children of deceased activists. The party has also spent over Rs 138 crore on cadre welfare, making it a significant investment in their well-being. The move has been welcomed by TDP activists in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, who are grateful for the attention being shown to their welfare. As a result, the party’s membership is set to cross the one crore mark soon.
