HDFC ERGO, a leading non-life insurance company in India, has launched a campaign called GalatRaastePeMatJao to raise awareness about the risks associated with unsafe driving practices and promote responsible road usage. The initiative is in response to the alarming number of road accidents in India, which resulted in over 4.60 lakh accidents and over 4.40 lakh injuries in 2022.
The campaign aims to create awareness and urge individuals to avoid unsafe practices such as using mobile phones while driving, over-speeding, and other risky behaviors. To achieve this, HDFC ERGO is distributing car danglers with important road safety messages to select garages across the country, serving as a reminder to vehicle owners to follow safety measures while driving.
According to the company’s Director and Chief Business Officer, Parthanil Ghosh, road crash casualties have a significant impact on families and the economy, with annual losses estimated to be between 3% to 5% of the Indian GDP. The company has taken various initiatives to promote road safety, including previous campaigns such as TakeItEasyonRoads, Do Not Disturb, and EyesOnTheRoad.
Through GalatRaastePeMatJao, HDFC ERGO aims to raise awareness about the impact of unsafe driving habits and foster a culture of responsible road behavior. The company has also collaborate with NGOs for urban trials and intersection redesigns, aiming to transform high-fatality stretches into zero-fatality corridors. Additionally, it has launched a campaign to sensitize netizens about the impact of non-insured vehicles on motor accident victims.
The company’s commitment to fueling road safety in India has benefited over 2.6 lakh lives in FY24, emphasizing its dedication to promoting responsible road behavior in the country.
