Kolkata-based HDFC Ergo, a leading non-life insurer, is planning to launch a cashless settlement facility for post-hospitalization treatment, a first in the industry. Currently, no private non-life insurer offers this facility, but HDFC Ergo believes that this will set a new standard. The company has already paid out Rs 2,900 crore in claims nationally and Rs 147 crore in West Bengal in 2023-24. The cashless facility will be accessible through the ‘HERE’ app, which already has 70 lakh downloads and 4 lakh users. The company has a large network of 7,800+ advisers, 10 branches, and 430+ employees in Bengal, with a focus on boosting health insurance inclusion in the region. The company has paid out Rs 63.9 crore in Bengal in the first half of the last fiscal year and Rs 91 crore in the first half of the current fiscal year. The insurer has collected Rs 240 crore in premiums from retail health policies in West Bengal and Rs 4,000 crore nationally.
