Standard Chartered has become the first bank to receive accreditation from the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) for its external trade and transaction banking training program, the Trade Institute. The program has already trained over 1,000 clients through virtual and face-to-face sessions, focusing on trade industry guidelines and banking solutions. The accreditation marks a milestone in raising industry standards amid a complex global trade environment. The program covers various aspects of trade finance, including letters of credit, guarantees, and international trade risks, through a combination of in-person and online learning sessions. The curriculum aims to enhance clients’ understanding of industry practices and familiarize them with Standard Chartered’s trade solutions. The accreditation is a significant partnership, as both institutions have a shared history dating back to the 19th century. This development comes at a time when banks face pressure to provide more sophisticated client-focused financial education.
