Standard Chartered Plc has appointed Amit Lakhwani, a Hong Kong-based banker, as the global head of loan syndicate teams. Lakhwani, who was previously the head of loan syndicate east, will work closely with colleagues across various departments, including markets and global banking. The appointment was confirmed by a StanChart spokesperson. Lakhwani joined the bank in 2013 and brings over 15 years of experience in the banking industry, including stints at Barclays Plc and Credit Agricole CIB. Under CEO Bill Winters, StanChart is undergoing a revamp, combining its global credit markets business with its mergers advisory teams under Henrik Raber. The move aims to enhance the bank’s emerging markets capabilities and reinforce its position as one of the largest European banks operating in these markets. Lakhwani’s new role is expected to drive the bank’s loan syndication business globally, with a focus on client engagement and relationship-building.
