The Punjab National Bank (PNB) has launched a nationwide campaign to reactivate dormant accounts, including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts, after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) advised banks to take measures to lower the number of inoperative accounts. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining active accounts, encouraging customers to reactivate their inoperative savings and current accounts, and preventing accounts from becoming dormant. Customers with post-dated cheques, fixed deposits, or recurring deposits can reactivate their accounts by submitting updated KYC documents and depositing a minimum amount of Rs. 100. The bank is also offering a seamless process for account reactivation at non-home branches through biometric authentication, and customers can visit their nearest branch or log in to the official website for more information. The campaign is part of PNB’s efforts to enhance customer engagement, reinforce financial inclusion, and strengthen its CASA deposit base.
