The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Ankit Malik, the Branch Manager of Bank of Baroda’s Shikarpur branch in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, on charges of bribery. A written complaint was lodged on December 11, 2024, alleging that Malik demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to sanction a loan of Rs 80 lakh for the complainant’s wife. Malik allegedly insisted that the bribe be paid via a signed bank cheque, which he later encashed. A CBI trap was set, during which Malik withdrew the bribe amount using the provided cheque. He was caught with the cash in his possession. Subsequent searches at his residences in Bulandshahr and Delhi led to the recovery of a pistol at his Bulandshahr property, which was handed over to the local police. The CBI arrested Malik in connection with the bribery case, which is a violation of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
