Apurva Sircar, Executive Director and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Bandhan Bank, has resigned from the position, effective June 30, 2022. According to a regulatory filing, Sircar has opted for premature retirement and will be replaced by Gurnoor Ahuja, currently the Bank’s Head of Risk Management. Sircar joined Bandhan Bank in 2016 as the CRO and was responsible for overseeing the bank’s risk management framework. His resignation comes as a surprise, given his prominent role in the bank’s risk management team. No specific reason was given for his departure. Sircar’s exit may cause some uncertainty for the bank, particularly given the regulatory requirements and the ongoing transformation of the banking sector in India.
