Partha Pratim Sengupta has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bandhan Bank. With over 40 years of experience in the banking industry, Sengupta brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. He previously held positions at Indian Overseas Bank and State Bank of India, and has experience in both retail and corporate banking. Sengupta’s appointment comes after the resignation of founder MD and CEO Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, who stepped down on July 9, 2024. Ratan Kesh, an executive director, has been serving as acting MD and CEO in the interim. Sengupta’s three-year term will begin no later than November 10, 2024, pending formal approval and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Reserve Bank of India approved his appointment on October 8, 2024, and Sengupta accepted the role on October 9, 2024.
