The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has formed an independent Election Commission to oversee the polls of sports federations, despite opposition from the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA). The decision was made at the 31st board meeting of the PSB, chaired by Advisor to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah. The new Election Commission will ensure transparency and fairness in the elections of national sports federations, aligning with the principles set by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Additionally, the PSB introduced a Pakistan Code of Ethics and Governance in Sports (PCEGS) to ensure transparency and integrity in the management of sports federations. The code aims to combat corruption, doping, and nepotism while aligning with national laws and international standards. The PSB also increased the cash reward for international medal-winning athletes to PKR 10 million and introduced a Gold Card for champion athletes, providing them access to PSB facilities and enhanced support and resources.
