Staff at a State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Hyderabad averted a ₹13 lakh cyber fraud after noticing a customer seemed to be under stress and acting suspiciously. The customer, who was trying to transfer funds to another account, was on a constant WhatsApp call and appeared panicked. The bank staff grew concerned and alerted the branch manager, who intervened to help the customer. The staff tactfully delayed the transfer of funds for two days, during which the branch manager convinced the customer that he was a victim of a cybercrime. The manager informed the police, and the fund transfer was ultimately avoided. The customer eventually realized what was happening and thanked the SBI staff for their timely intervention, which prevented the loss of a significant amount of money.
