Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines consider introducing flights to Asia’s biggest airport
Noida International Airport (NIA) is set to become a key hub in India, offering international routes to Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai, operated by Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, and other international carriers. The airport will also serve 25 domestic routes, connecting major cities. The airport, located in Jewar, western Uttar Pradesh, will start its second phase of trial operations on November 15, with daily flights from Akasa Air, IndiGo, and Air India. The trial phase will run until December 15, after which the airport will apply for aerodrome licensing. If successful, the airport is expected to start commercial operations on April 17, 2025, with 30 flights, including 25 domestic and three international flights. The airport has signed Memorandums of Understanding with Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa, and is negotiating with other airlines to expand its international and domestic routes. The airport’s development is expected to enhance connectivity and promote economic growth in western Uttar Pradesh, alleviating congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
