A SpiceJet flight from Hyderabad to Prayagraj was delayed by 4-6 hours on February 7, causing inconvenience to passengers, including several VIPs. The flight, scheduled to depart at 10:05 am, was delayed due to a technical glitch notified by the pilot. Passengers, including Telugu film star Vijay Devarakonda and high-ranking police officials, were left stranded at the airport for six hours, with no clear updates from airline officials.
This is not the first instance of a delay causing trouble at the Hyderabad airport. Earlier this month, Oman Air’s Hyderabad-Muscat flight was cancelled after an eight-hour delay due to an air conditioning system malfunction, leaving passengers to suffer from suffocation. Another flight, scheduled to depart for Tirupati, was delayed due to a technical issue, leaving passengers worried about missing their darshan at Tirumala.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, a significant religious gathering, is attracting millions of pilgrims to Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers meet. The event, which began on January 13, will end on February 26, 2025. The direct flights from Hyderabad to Prayagraj, launched by SpiceJet on February 1, were intended to facilitate easy travel for devotees. However, the delay has caused frustration and inconvenience to those trying to reach the Maha Kumbh Mela.
