Three aircraft lessors, NGF Genesis Limited, NGF Charlie Limited, and NGF Alpha Limited, have issued a legal notice to SpiceJet, accusing the airline of theft. The lessors claim that SpiceJet has removed parts, including engines, from five Boeing 737 freighter planes they had leased to the airline. The airline allegedly used the removed parts on other planes operating commercial flights. The lessors are demanding that SpiceJet return or reinstall the removed parts, including engines and auxiliary power units, and threaten to file criminal proceedings if the airline fails to comply. SpiceJet has dismissed the charges as “baseless and incorrect” and claims to be in talks with the lessors to return the grounded aircraft to service. This is not the first time SpiceJet has faced such allegations; in 2022, another lessor, TWC Aviation, alleged the airline had removed parts from aircraft without permission. The dispute highlights the ongoing issues between SpiceJet and its lessors, with multiple aircraft and engine lessors having approached courts seeking insolvency over unpaid dues.
