SpiceJet has appealed a Delhi High Court ruling that found the airline fraudulently terminated its contract with Aerocare Aviation Services Pvt. Ltd., a specialist Hajj operator. The court ruled in favor of Aerocare, awarding them INR317 million (USD3.7 million). The matter dates back to last decade when SpiceJet used Aerocare to develop Hajj operations before terminating the contract and proceeding to operate Hajj flights themselves, allegedly using knowledge gained from Aerocare. The court’s judgment has been stayed pending payment of the appeal fee. SpiceJet has also secured rights to operate Hajj flights in 2025 from several cities, expecting to carry 15,500 pilgrims on over 100 flights and generate INR1.85 billion (USD21.8 million) in revenue.
