An Air India flight, AI113, operating from Delhi to Birmingham, experienced a technical issue on December 13, 2024, due to a leak in the hydraulic system of its front landing gear. The aircraft, a 11.6-year-old Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, had departed Delhi with a 43-minute delay and was scheduled to arrive in Birmingham at 17:15 local time. However, it entered a holding pattern over the airport at 17:10 and remained there for 35 minutes before landing on runway 15. The pilots likely entered the holding pattern to burn off fuel and reduce the weight of the aircraft. As a result, the aircraft remained on the runway, and landings and take-offs were halted at Birmingham Airport. The return Amritsar flight was cancelled, and the aircraft will be grounded until necessary repairs are completed.
A Boeing 787 operated by Air India is currently stuck on the runway at Birmingham Airport, causing delays and disruptions.
