IndiGo, India’s largest airline, is set to enter the business class market, targeting high-paying corporate customers to boost profit margins. This marks a significant shift from their previous all-economy configuration, with a focus on affordable fares. The airline will add business class seats on domestic routes, including Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Bengaluru, with over 150 additional seats on Delhi-Mumbai routes. This will increase competition with Air India, which is set to offer business class seats on more flights. Experts predict an overhaul in pricing, with business and premium economy tickets becoming more affordable. IndiGo’s approach will focus on providing flexible flight options, comfortable seats, and shorter wait times, rather than complimentary lounge and hot meals. The airline’s business class seats will be priced at ₹18,000-20,000, comparable to Air India’s premium economy. This development is likely to benefit customers, with more options and competitive pricing. By 2025, IndiGo plans to operate 45 aircraft with the new cabin product.
