Flight operations were disrupted at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Saturday due to a kite being spotted flying at an altitude of 200 feet near the runway. As a result, four flights were diverted, two were temporarily grounded, and the operations of the aviation training centre at the airport were affected. Pilots of incoming flights were instructed to perform a “go-around” and circle the airport while departing flights were temporarily delayed. Air India Express, Air Arabia, Air India, and Indigo flights were told to delay their landings, and two more flights, Air India Express to Hyderabad and Indigo to Bangalore, were grounded later in the evening. The kite eventually landed after two hours, and normal operations resumed. It remains unclear who was responsible for flying the kite.
