The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has detected 18 safety violations by airlines, airports, and ground handling service providers over the past three years. The violations were in response to provisions of the Aircraft Rules, 1937. The DGCA imposed a fine of ₹2 crore for these violations. The majority of fines were imposed on aerodrome operators across cities, including Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow, and Mumbai International Airport Ltd. Other airlines, such as Air India, Spicejet, IndiGo, and Vistara, were also fined for violating safety norms. The DGCA took further action by suspending the license of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Airport, Nanded, and restricting Spicejet operations to 50% of departures for eight weeks. The government provided this information in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha. The fine imposed by the DGCA was ₹2 crore, with the majority of fines being imposed on aerodrome operators.
