On November 7, 2024, the district of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand was linked to Delhi by air with the first commercial flight landing at Naini Saini airport at 11 am. Alliance Air’s 42-seater flight will operate three days a week from IGI Airport in Delhi to Pithoragarh. The inaugural flight had 21 passengers, including senior BJP leader Ganesh Bhandari, arriving in Pithoragarh. The return flight had 27 passengers, including Union minister Ajay Tamta, departing for Delhi. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, flagged off the inaugural flight from Delhi. The district is already connected to other cities like Pant Nagar, Dehradun, and Haldwani by air. BJP leaders, including former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and MLA Mayukh Singh Mahar, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister for the new flight service.
