Nestlé Fiji has donated $100,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to support relief and recovery efforts in Vanuatu following the devastating 7.3 and 6.1 magnitude earthquakes. The earthquakes have claimed at least 14 lives, injured hundreds, and destroyed infrastructure in Port Vila. The IFRC has launched a global appeal to raise $5 million to support the Vanuatu Red Cross’s emergency relief and recovery efforts. The funds will aid in providing shelter, water, and psychological first aid to those affected. Nestlé Fiji’s General Manager, Tim Inskter, said the company has a long and positive relationship with Vanuatu and felt compelled to provide assistance during this time of need. The donation will support on-the-ground humanitarian aid efforts and provide some relief to those affected. The IFRC Regional Director, Katie Greenwood, expressed gratitude to Nestlé for their partnership and acknowledged the urgent need for support in Vanuatu.
